Well, 2014 definitely was a very special year for us. It was THE year of being OUT OF OFFICE. We followed our passion, took the chance to stop thinking about and just head into exploring the world. But for sure, sitting in the plane leaving Germany in December 2013, we had no idea how this journey would change our lives…
OUT OF OFFICE – Stories from abroad
When we launched our blog project, it was more like a conceptual experiment. The main reason to set it up was to stimulate and motivate others to think about, what makes them really happy and more confident. We had the feeling that we might not be the only ones with critical thoughts and mixed feelings about the imbalance of business and private life. So we´ve started to tell stories about our plans to escape the everyday routine, stories about our experiences out of office and about the meaning of traveling in general… And you´ve listened to it!
Up to now there are more than 100 articles about the great escapes but also about the short time-outs which could enrich everyone’s life for a weekend or at least for an afternoon. You´ve followed us – to colourful spots, remote places and outstanding destinations all around the world. We´ve never expected so much sympathy. We are overwhelmed. We are proud. We are happy!
It’s time to say Thank You
Thanks to all of you, out there, reading our blog, following us on Facebook and Instagram. Thanks for your feedback, your comments, your likes, your loyalty… Thanks to everyone we’ve met during our travels, who have taken us to somewhere new. Thanks to Steffi, David and Eddie for reaching the top of Mount Meru as a team. Thanks to Mia and Nick who introduced us to the penguins at the Cape. Thanks to Veronica for showing us her beloved gardens in the desert of Atacama. A special thanks to Randall and his beautiful home in Hawaii, which felt like a home for us, as well. Thanks to Ignacio and Barbara for a great time in Bolivia. Thanks for the best salmon dinner ever in New Zealand with serious but hopeful talks. And thank you so much, BK, for deep insights into the Tibetan culture and for the most amazing view over the top of the world. Thanks to Kylie for the fun with momos and Everest beer but also for your inspiration. Thanks Brahim for your crazy Berber anecdotes and guiding us through the Sahara. And thanks to all the cooperation partners who supported our growing business “out of office”.
Also… thanks to Mirja for caring about our home base. And a big hug to our families for always believing in us. Never forget: Thanks god, that Achim was one of the really lucky ones this year!
Last but not least: Thanks to my beloved (travel-)partner for being the best friend in the world.
2014 we also had to say goodbye… for too many times. Goodbye to more than 25 awesome destinations. We would love to come back again to each one some day – although we know it will hardly be possible. Unfortunately there is so much more to explore!
Goodbye to all the lovely people we’ve met. Hope to see as many of you again, as possible.
This year I also had to say goodbye to my grandmom, forever.

… Let’s welcome 2015!
We are sure, 2015 will be at least as exciting as 2014. There is so much more to come. New destinations, new escapes, a new job and lots of plans. We are looking forward to another year in office and OUT OF OFFICE and, of course, you are still invited to join us!
