Where to stay … in Jo’burg?
To be honest, I had no idea of what to expect of Johannesburg – and was a little bit afraid of this big city. Therefore I spent a lot of time with research for a nice accommodation for our one night rest before flying further to Argentina. Which area should we choose? Will it be safe?
Now I can tell you: I´ve found the perfect home!
If you ever have the chance to visit the city, I would absolutely recommend to spent the night(s) in the little so-called Boutique-Motel MiPiChi in the suburb of Melville, close to the city center.
MiPiChi Motel – Style and functionality
Not only the comfort and the really smart design of the five rooms (we had a great light one with private green and “outdoor” bathroom), also the lovely hosts are worth a visit. Costs: 47 Euro per room/night including breakfast (fair deal)! In addition the streets around Melville are safe (even at night), there a lots of bars and trendy restaurants around. Try “Lucky Bean” for some ostrich filet tandoori style!
Only one little drop of bitterness relating the MiPiChi service: The pick up by the motel from the airport was a bit … let´s say unfavorable. We had to wait for about 90 minutes (the driver blamed it on the traffic). But come on, we didn´t recommend the motel for its public transport system but for its style and comfort – and the next morning the pick up was on time!
Go there and enjoy!
